Brush Dale's Northern Iowa Prairie is approximately 240 acres of rolling hills that were formerly corn and hay fields. The Northern Prairie, which includes five ponds, a wetlands, and several food plots, was first planted in 1994 with natural Iowa prairie grasses, wildflowers, shrubs, bushes, and trees. Big blue stem and little blue stem grow over 10-feet tall and so thick one barely walk through it in places! You will need to schedule a full-day hunt in order to cover all of the Northern Prairie. In addition to the large, Northern Prairie, Brush Dale has two additional Prairie fields. The 30-acre Southern Prairie field is across Hwy 62 from the Northern Prairie and has its own food plot. The 20-acre Eastern Prairie field is on the north-eastern side of the Farm, along Hwy 62. It includes CrayFish Pond and a food plot. The Large Training Field has also been partially restored to Iowa Prairie. |
