HnrCH/IntCH/NatCH Indy Vom Hundegelaut (Indy) is from a litter of eleven puppies born on December 9, 2013 in Anrosey, France. Indy's sire is Elton de Wacourt and his dam is Gamine des Grande Voivres. Indy is an Honors Champion, International Champion and National Champion in Conformation. Indy is owned by Anne Zeches of Madison, Wisconsin, where he lives inside the home with the Zeches family, three female Small Munsterlanders and a cat.
Indy's owner chose the Vom Hundegelaut Kennel in France because the breeder, Roger Aeberhard, tests his dogs in both the French and German systems, x-rays them to rule out hip dysplasia, enters them in conformation shows and regularly hunts them in the field, woods and marshes. More information can be found on the Vom Hundegelaut Kennel web site.
Indy is a beautiful example of a male Small Munsterlander and Anne often receives compliments on his handsome face, deep roan color and exuberant personality. He is lean, well muscled and weighs about 55 pounds. At 55cm tall, he is of average height for a male Small Munsterlander. His coat is very dark roan, soft and dense. Indy is a tireless hunter with a big running style, fantastic nose, intense prey drive and solid point. He is a natural retriever. Anne hunts him on upland game and ducks in Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Missouri. He is very outgoing and friendly with people and other dogs and comes across as being a very happy guy, which he is!.
Indy's owner has tested him in both the NAVHDA and JGHV systems. At just under 6 months, he earned a 107 Prize 2 in the NAVHDA Natural Ability Test. He pointed more than 5 birds in the field and chased each one into the woods. He was docked in Cooperation during the Search portion of the Test for not returning when called. The rest of his Test was flawless! The following year, at age 20 months, he earned 158 Prize 3 in the NAVHDA Utility Preparatory Test. He did Prize 1 work in everything but Steadiness. Anne was very proud of Indy's work that day and believes his lack of steadiness was solely a reflection of her being a novice trainer and handler. Indy found his duck in the Duck Search in just 3 minutes, a testament to his amazing nose. In August 2017, Indy earned a Prize 2 in the NAVHDA Utility Test.
Indy was 16 months old when he ran the JGHV VJP Test and earned a 72. That is an excellent score! He earned bonus points in both Use of Nose and Pointing. Later that year in October, he ran the JGHV HZP Test where he earned an excellent score of 184! Indy's Search Behind the Duck was amazing, as was all his water work! His independence, high prey drive and love of the water made these tasks a breeze. For more information about the VJP and HZP tests, check out the JGHV-USA web site.
