Everyone carrying a gun (Hunters/Hunting Guests) must submit a separate Registration. Also complete this registration if you are attending, but not hunting. You may add non-hunting guests to your Registration.

A Preserve License with Habitat Stamp is just $22.00, whether purchased by an Iowa or out-of-state resident. Please purchase your Iowa Hunting License Online HERE in advance of attending the Fun Hunt. If you were born after January 1, 1972 and have never had an Iowa hunting license, please create your online IA DNR account and bring your hunter safety certificate to the Fun Hunt. We will then add your hunter safety information to your account and issue your license.

Iowa law requires residents and non-residents born after January 1, 1972 to be certified in hunter education before they are eligible to purchase an Iowa hunting license. (If you are 18 years or older, the hunter safety course may be completed 100% online here.) If you have not completed a hunter safety course and are at least 16 years of age, you may be eligible to purchase an Apprentice Hunting License (info & qualifications). Resident Iowa youth under the age of 16 are not required to have a license, but must be accompanied by a licensed adult 18 years of age or older. Non-resident youth under the age of 16 are not required to have completed a hunter safety/education course, but are required to possess a non-resident youth preserve license and habitat stamp.   • If a session you have signed up for is full, we will reschedule your hunt to an open session as close as possible to the session you requested. There will be a 30-minute break between sessions for bird planting. If your field has been planted prior to the stated start time for your session, your party may begin hunting early.
  • Youth hunters will hunt all sessions with their adult sponsors.
  • Hunters and their Hunting Guests will hunt together every session.
  • Hunters may request to hunt one session with another Hunter in the More Information section below.
  • Hunting Guests should not be concerned about not having their own dog. We will make sure there are plenty of dogs in the field for your party.

    I understand the accommodations will be shared, on a first-come/first-served basis, with limited availability (men only). I will bring my own bedding (sleeping bag, pillow). I also understand dogs are not allowed in the VIP Lodge, but may sleep in their crates in the heated Hawkeye Lodge or stay in one of the 4 outdoor, under-cover guest kennels.
